What is mindful awareness, or mindfulness? Jon Kabat-Zinn, author of, Wherever You Go, There You Are, and founder of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), defines it as “moment to moment non-judgmental awareness.” Mindful awareness is of Buddhist origin but is applicable to all aspects and walks of life. It is awakening to each moment, opening our eyes to the present moment and looking at it without judgment or criticism; taking life in just as it is. We’ll also pull some scientific insight from The Blissful Brain: Neuroscience and Proof of The Power of Meditation, by Dr. Shanida Nataraja.
